The False Prophet of the Stage

The old mind parades its actors as prophets, but the soul never plays theatre. The liberation is seeing who’s really on stage.

Ego Soul False Prophet

Metaphorical Narrative

Picture a grand theatre lit with smoke and fire. On stage, actors wear masks of wisdom and robes of authority, shouting prophecies of doom or salvation. The crowd hushes, afraid, believing the performance is real.

But step back. The floorboards creak. The costumes are paper-thin. The old mind built this theatre on lies. The so-called prophets are just actors in wigs, improvising fear.

In the back row, a quiet witness watches. The audience of one who cannot be fooled. This presence does not play. It sees. It remembers the air outside the theatre, fresh and untainted. That is the soul.

Core Insight

The old mind runs theatre, and the ego takes the stage. The ego isn’t evil—it’s just an actor wearing costumes. But the danger is when it claims to be the truth, when it tries to speak as a prophet.

The soul, by contrast, never needs a stage. It is not performance, prediction, or manipulation. It simply is. The false prophet is always an actor. The soul is never part of the play.

Saturday Experiment

Today, when a thought or inner voice declares itself with authority—“this is how it will end,” “you must listen to me”—pause. Ask:

  1. Is this a stage performance or a witnessing truth?
  2. Does it feel like an actor in costume or the quiet presence watching?
  3. If it’s a performance, dismiss it like a bad play. Leave the theatre.

Sunday Reflection

Write in the third person:

  • How often does the ego put on costumes and pretend to be a prophet in his/her life?
  • What was it like for him/her to sit in the back row as the witness instead of joining the play?
  • How can he/she remind themselves that the soul does not perform, it only sees?
