Ego Sabotage Ownership

Metaphorical Narrative

Ego walks into an interview carrying a CV. At first glance it looks impressive: vigilance, planning, coping mechanisms. But you read deeper. Every job it ever had ended in sabotage — burned bridges, missed opportunities, self-inflicted wounds. The resume is full of failures dressed as skills. The interview ends before it starts.

Core Insight

Ego constantly applies for the job of running your life. Its strategies are defensive and avoidant, but the record shows they rarely protect you. More often they trap you. The mistake is assuming past survival tactics are valid blueprints for thriving. The saboteur never earned the promotion.

Identity Shift Tie-In

You are the hiring manager of your own mind. Presence means rejecting ego’s CV and writing your own. Conscious thought, deliberate feeling, chosen action — those are the only credentials you recognize. Identity shifts when you stop outsourcing self-management to a saboteur.

Saturday Experiment

For 24 hours, ego is not employed in your mind.

  • When avoidant or sabotaging strategies surface, name them: “This strategy is dismissed.”
  • Immediately replace them with one conscious act aligned with your day’s chosen direction.
  • You are the hiring manager of your own reality. Ego does not get the job.

Sunday Reflection

  • Which ego strategies showed up for an “interview” today?
  • What evidence proves they failed in the past?
  • What felt different when you rejected the resume and acted with presence?
