The Funeral of Potential

Potential is a lovely ghost; reality needs a body—choose and commit.

Graveyard of Starts

Metaphorical Narrative

A chapel with an empty casket labeled Could‑Have‑Been. Mourners are versions of you in different costumes, each holding a program.

The bell tolls. Balloons rise through the rafters and vanish into sky.

Core Insight

Worshiping potential preserves optionality but postpones life. Choice paralysis keeps the ego safe from being measured, while time performs the measurement anyway.

Constraints create power. Committing narrows attention, strengthens learning loops, and lets executive functions optimize for one path rather than simulate ten.

Identity Shift Tie-In

Observer Mode speaks the eulogy and closes the lid. Sovereignty is the identity of the Maker of Reality: the one who lets possibilities die so a path can live.

Saturday Experiment

  1. Write a one‑paragraph eulogy for a ‘maybe’ you will retire.
  2. Choose one path for 30 days. Remove alternative reminders and bookmarks.
  3. Create a visible scoreboard for the chosen path only.

Sunday Reflection

  • How would a narrator depict their relationship with potential—shelter or stall?
  • What becomes possible when the ghost is buried?
  • Where will the next 30 days of their life have a body?
