Metaphorical Narrative
It’s like standing in a room with one steady candle, but your nose keeps catching the smell of burnt plastic. The light is here, warm and alive — but all attention goes to the stench. Negativity bias works the same way: dragging your mind to flaws, convincing you that safety lies in scanning for cracks.
The demand is absurd: “Be happy boy or be cast out. Perform, or burn.”
Fuel is performance.
Cost is presence.
Signature is poison in the air.
And when you fight back, the hecklers arrive:
“You are licking your wounds.”
“People don’t just change overnight.”
They try to shame healing as weakness, or stall progress as impossible.
Core Insight
Negativity bias is old firmware: survival brain scanning for danger. But today it acts like exile-code — a trick that manufactures isolation even when you are not alone. Ego and fear hijack it, running phantom negotiations you never asked for.
The heckler voices are malware add-ons. Their function is to prolong the bias: mock your recovery (mocking malware) or delay your change (delay malware). Both carry the same hidden agenda: minimise, isolate, stall.
The antidote is EF control and EF override:
- EF Control → Label the bias or voice for what it is (burnt plastic bias, mocking malware, delay malware).
- EF Override → Redirect to factual anchors: the candle is still burning, healing is strength, change happens the moment you decide.
EF is your executive function.
Saturday Experiment
- Catch the Smell: When flaw-scanning kicks in, pause and label it burnt plastic bias.
- Disarm the Hecklers: When the voices show up, tag them — mocking malware or delay malware.
- Override with Presence: Name one steady fact in the moment (a strength, a choice you already made, the candle still burning).
Sunday Reflection (3rd person)
- Where did he notice the burnt plastic bias trying to exile him this week?
- How did the heckler voices attempt to mock or stall him?
- What facts did he use to override the trick?
- How did his presence feel once the malware was caught and burned off?
