Metaphorical Narrative
You stand in a quiet room. Out of nowhere, a parrot lands on your shoulder.
Every time you speak, it squawks the opposite:
“If you tell me this, this, this… I won’t do X, X, X.”
It doesn’t care what the words mean. It just echoes in reverse, like a prankster repeating everything with a twist.
At first, it feels mocking, even disorienting. But when you pause, you see it clearly—this parrot isn’t reasoning, it’s just noise.
Its only function is to block your sovereignty by throwing back empty reversals, hoping you mistake the echo for truth.
Core Insight
The ego parrot shows up at the edge of real choice.
It doesn’t argue with facts—it simply mirrors in reverse to create doubt.
But notice what this really means:
- A reactive reversal usually arrives after you’ve already considered “this, this, this” and adjusted your plan.
- The parrot’s reversal is a shallow afterthought, trying to impose a false price: “Fine, then I won’t do X.”
- That “price” collapses quickly—how long would you really avoid X? And who said X mattered in the first place?
This bluff only works if you forget that your plan and your sovereignty were already established.
When you stop and check, you realise:
- The parrot’s reversal has no grounding.
- Your choice is still yours, untouched.
- No other person can assign meaning to your X or Y.
This is where executive functions (EF) step in: EF control separates fact from echo, and EF override reclaims the choice that was yours all along.
Saturday Experiment
When a parrot reversal shows up:
- Catch the squawk. Name it: “That’s the ego parrot.”
- Laugh at it. A squawk is not an argument.
- Check the fact. Did you already weigh this? Yes → sovereignty confirmed.
- Re-anchor. Decide if X matters to you or not—without the bluff.
Sunday Reflection
- When the parrot squawked this week, how quickly did the person spot it?
- Did the parrot make them laugh or pull them into reaction?
- Where did they discover that sovereignty remains untouched, even when the echo tried to charge a false price?
