Subconscious Interrupts
Metaphorical Narrative
Imagine a machine in a dark factory. It takes in small, neutral pieces — a late email, a frown, a calendar reminder.
Inside, gears grind and weld them together into a giant monster labeled: “Everything is going wrong.”
The monster is terrifying — until you notice the machine only runs when you feed it.
Core Insight
The subconscious combines neutral signals into catastrophic stories. This “stress machine” isn’t inevitable. You can interrupt the welding process by refusing to add pieces or by turning off the gears with conscious attention.
Saturday Experiment
- Spot one moment where facts were being welded into a story.
- Say: “Stop the machine.”
- Write the raw facts down — without story.
Sunday Reflection
- What story-monsters appeared today?
- How strong did they look once stripped back to facts?
- Did they manage to stop the machine mid-process?
